Stress relief cutting

Stress relief cutting in concrete is required to prevent unsightly and damaging cracks forming in new concrete.
Generally cuts are placed 3 to 4m apart in slabs, driveways and path.
The cut is approximately 25mm deep or ΒΌ the thickness of the slab.
This means as the concrete dries, the cracks form in the cut we make therefore controlling the cracking.
Without this control joint or cut, the concrete cracks of its own accord, this weakens the concrete and eventually it breaks up into unsightly pieces which have to be replaced.
